Beautiful Sinai
I walked through the streets today and admired your beauty. On the way to the tienda to buy vegetables for dinner, I couldn’t help but notice all of your imperfections. Undernourished animals roaming the streets, trash building up on the side of every road, and such friendly, incredible people residing in cane and cement homes. I was taken back by simply looking around and valuing how much you have to offer. You provide a community and you love so deeply. I observe children playing soccer in the dirt streets, women waving to me from their doorways with babies in their arms, people saying hello as they pass me by…you are so hospitable. I am different from everyone else here, yet I am welcome in nearly every home in your community. As I walk to the market, I am introduced to the owners of the store and greet the men with a handshake and the women with a kiss on the cheek. My Spanish may be limited, but it does not prevent the members of your community from treating me like I am at home here. Thank you for your warm, loving embrace, Sinai. I see God’s presence in you each day.
