heart reflections
an album I listened to recently inspired me to reflect more deeply on the question: what does freedom mean to you, and where do you find it?
I recently spent one night reflecting in the suburbs of san francisco. I made sure to find a place where I could absorb and feel silence. I put my headphones over my ears with the sole intention of letting go. I desired to shed several layers of heaviness. it was one of the first moments in months when I had given myself space and time to just be & just breathe.
I closed my eyes to process. it's an incredible gift when you are able to connect with your breath. my soul had desperately been desiring a place of comfort for months. I found that sacred place in that moment. I began to think back on the last day and the many graces I encountered...
I thought back to the kind woman that smiled at me earlier in the day when passing by, & the young boy that met me with a face of excitement, bewilderment and innocence as I cruised by on my skateboard. those small moments were so meaningful to me.
I allowed myself to surrender and receive what God had in store for me in that very moment. I remember gazing up at the cream-colored sky and being hit with her rays which then echoed off of my face. I knew right then that I was where I was supposed to be.
I inhaled deeply and let my lungs fill up with fresh air. almost simultaneously, a hummingbird began singing next to me & a hawk greeted me from above with its outstretched wings, inviting me to return home. I exhaled with an appreciation for the feeling of peace that had overcome my being.
It is truly beautiful what is possible & can be seen when we are able to connect with nature. to me, I suppose that freedom is in the pause. so, believe in miracles. never lose sight of those divine moments. they sometimes feel hidden but are surely out there.
this year, I have felt incredibly discouraged & disconnected from myself at times. remain resilient. strive to heal. there is true power and humility in embracing the journey. keep your head up & heart strong
