an ode to autumn ~

temporary, all of it. these clothes I wear. these classes I take. this job I reside in. this car I drive. these thoughts I interpret. these dreams I dream. the foliage I see. the leaves that fall. the smell of the purified air after a light drizzle. the light that makes its way between each tree and branch. the painted color of the night sky. the kiss I plant on your cheek. living into creation and allowing for such an unfolding is the one and only now.

I remember the day I first allowed my inner child permission to roam free. like a bird freed from its cage, I found myself within my own skin. surrendering to my own resistance,
I encountered clarity.

things looked different back then, as I wandered the many dusty roads that taught me such grace and obedience. it was the good, refreshing kind of dirt that stained the soles of your feet in an unforgiving, yet beautiful way. the hot air I inhaled allowed for the time and space to begin healing. miracles on my fingertips.

these inner child-like voices have affirmed me in ways I never thought possible. have taught me to embrace my authenticity and vulnerability. showed me how to love without limits, and have displayed the power in giving gratitude to this body that stretches and thins itself for me, that bears its soul to the world simply for myself to exist.

and so it's in these days that I find this child wandering as the leaves fall from trees. and with each distant color that makes contact with my eyes, I am able to see with such wonder and amazement. as I become acutely aware of the world around me, I experience new awakenings in each and every step and falling raindrop. in all the puddles filled with such impermanence, that form and wash away. I am here.

today, this child at heart sits and waits, watching the train come and go along the freeway in portland. it's recognising the pure bliss that i've found in my tastebuds, as I weep thinking about the beauty of having arrived into my own belonging. it's always been in the invitation. inward is the way home. breathing in, I smile and let go. what a delight.
