dear wanderer,
The smell of gasoline and freedom fills the hot summer air on I-5 north in California. Divine Mother greets my skin with warmth and love as sunlight. I smile back at her as she pours into the window and onto my face. The sound of Josiah Leming’s voice echoes peace. Entranced by the warm tones of pink, orange and red as the light slowly fades, Shasta's beauty is abundant. I venture north towards green, feeling invited by a gravitational pull, something beyond my comprehension; simply a knowing. An intuitive trustworthy nudge from God. Listening.
As Spirit leads me, I am reminded of all that speaks to me about this faraway space. Children that still choose to write on the sidewalks with chalk to play hopscotch with their friends. Those that venture to vintage theatres to catch the latest film. Moments of nostalgia that remind us of a time that may no longer exist, but glimmers still appear.
Oftentimes I find myself wandering aimlessly somewhere within the depths of the great forest, which cleanses the soul anew. I pause to breathe and am swallowed whole. A place where expansion and rest come together as one. So, where are you in this world when everything stops? What is life if not a risk beyond all your imagination? If we are not moving towards something, are we even moving at all? So I choose spontaneity and determine where the day will lead by pointing to the destination on a map. Becoming uncomfortable with being uncomfortable is the journey. Bathe in that.
Woven into the fabric of being alive is recognizing your own sovereignty. An act of fortitude is to say yes to yourself. So when the noise begins, I choose to slow down. Who am I anyway if not at home within my own body and being? Going within, I internalize as dewdrops fall like rain. To let go is to sometimes release all we have left. Refuse to settle for the societal cage. Remove the rose colored glasses. I’ll meet you there. Keep your eyes open for beauty, for I promise it resides within and around you. Mama mountain, my compass and guide. All that is meant for me is already here within my hands. Third eye open.
