the arrival ~

it's the way the sun finally begins to rise again and the sky is invited to slowly open, emerging from the cloud cover as it gently subsides for now
i feel as if i've awakened
from a tumultuous winter slumber
i reminisce on the days i spent
wondering when i would feel somewhat whole again and my eyes would be greeted with light
i look around with awe and am met with vivacious greens from corner to corner
divine mother earth and her paintbrush
the gardener of life
i waited an eternity for the quiet arrival of sweet springtime
and she arrived with a grace and ease about her
there is nothing to do now, but bathe in each of her quiet offerings
it's how i feel alive yet again
when i encounter the soft and gentle wind
that of which with beauty brings each cherry blossom petal to the ground
i close my eyes
and dream about playing in a field of lavender
like a child
tear drops of joy slowly drip and fall down my cheeks
it's the way the blue jay moves beside my feet
as i sit
observing the way the clouds move, coupled alongside contrails in the sky
i've never known their names before until now
i think about the smile of the young girl wearing overalls
greeting me as i walk down the street
radical hospitality
loving thy neighbor
i'm reminded and reassured that
this journey i walk
is never truly alone
oregon
a love letter to you
i was not expecting
the ways you would change me
heal me
you told me to surrender control
and so i did
resistance then washed away
when they asked me
what I wanted to be in this life, I told them
that my deepest desire was to be free
when they questioned what i would do
with this precious life I had been given
and entrusted with, I told them my calling was
to follow my heart
i'm reminded the art of what it simply means to
be human
while the world spirals
the few and far things in between that keep me sane
the trees, the ocean, moments of stillness, moving my body
isn't all we're truly here for is finding home within our own skin?
i reside here and journey onward again and again
gracious now.
