these fallen petals ~
these fallen petals~ 🌸
the other day, a young girl picked pink flowers off a bush nearby. she approached and smiled, placing the blossoms in the palms of my hand. I sat in awe, noticing what began to stir inwardly. I allowed for the dampness of the petals to seep into my skin. I clutched my fist with the flower inside, smiling. these answered prayers. God. the ordinary. the sun loving on your face while you are held by that of which touches your soul. a hand to hold. surrendering to the now. returning here.
allowing my body and mind to slow down - craving to be acknowledged are the wounds I've suppressed over time, alongside the hurt I've felt and my inability to respond. it's in the energy and life for the world that radiates in and through me. it's found within the words that lay dormant and unsaid, that need space to be shared. it's the body that gives me strength and seeks attentiveness. in the freedom in letting go and escaping from a place of hiding and hibernation. it's finding the grace to feel and simply be, and the passions from within that emit and exude love. it's in the moments when I feel free enough to live into the now and release fear. it's practicing the art of being and seeking openness in every new day.
it's the stillness in pause and taking a deep exhale. the words I communicate with my eyes but never say. the joyful flowers that ask no permission to shine. the branches of the old pine that tower above me and emanate wisdom and devotion with their presence. it's the peace that comes along with taking time to intentionally rest after a fresh rainfall. it's the seasons that teach us obedience and the need for waiting. it's the soft, quiet colors of the sunset, sinking and sitting beneath the skyline, reminding us the impermanent nature of these fleeting moments. it's in the beauty of having another day to be human. in learning, making mistakes, loving, suffering, feeling joy, encountering pain — simply being one with our own selves. I find it in the blissful awareness of the spaces i've come to know and love, and the places I will one day return.
